The client

Daimler AG - one of the largest global concerns in the automotive industry. The owner of the most recognizable brand of premium segment cars - Mercedes. A company with the headquarter in Stuttgart, Germany.

One of the principles of Daimler AG's activities is to maintain high quality products, both in the automotive industry as well as other products such as digital services.

Customer's need

The Quality Management Department (QM) is responsible for maintaining the quality of digital products within the group. QM is responsible for developing guidelines for project implementation and supervising its implementation.

The management of the QM department was looking for an IT solution that would guide the standards related to the quality maintenance and would allow the use of these practices in the course of the project. The solution was to be based on the iOS platform and serve the other employees of the group - hence it would be a tool for internal use. It was planned as a place to spread good practices and collect feedback from users.

Implementation

ALAN Systems specialists were already involved at the initial stage of the project, participating in the business development of the target solution, the choice of technology and the preparation of an ergonomic and visually attractive user interface. We suggested preparing a native application for iOS, working with a dedicated web application for content management. We made sure that the communication within the system was properly secured. We put a lot of emphasis on the quality of our product, after all we had delivered it to the quality management department (QM).

The project was divided into several phases due to its functionality. In the first phase, we set up a mobile application with data stored permanently in it. During the next one, we added a content management system and developed a mobile application with additional functions.

The effect

The mobile application was well received by the client's employees. The first phase, considered to be a prototype, was successfully implemented. The second one, also met the client's expectations and began to be used by QM employees who appreciated access to key information from their business smartphones. Thanks to this, it is easier to maintain quality standards while working on new projects.

Further project phases are planned, enriching the application with a further functional scope. Together with them, the scope of using the system should be increased so that it could be an everyday tool used at work.
